"KARNIVAL BAKAT PELAPIS : MEDAN ASAH BAKAT CILIK"
PAROI, March 8, 2018 - Coach Talent Carnival organized by the National Sports Council has opened the door for young talents from all over the country to play at a higher level.
The carnival, which began in 2015, has witnessed 177 young athletes representing their respective states at the Sarawak Malaysia Sports Games in 2016.
While 123 athletes have been selected to the full-time Regional Program and 62 athletes are elected to enter the National Coach program.
"This is a new development where this carnival brings together all athletes from the state. This is in line with the National Structure of the National Sports Development launched in conjunction with the National Sports Transformation on February 12, 2015, "said Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin at a press conference after visiting the State Coat Bazaar Carnival Series 1/2018 at the Paroi Sports Complex.
Khairy added that this carnival is an opportunity for athletes who have never represented their respective states at the MSSM level, Teenagers Circuit or the national youth championship to experience a competitive competition at the national level.
"A total of 9 sports have been selected for this talent carnival, namely plunge, weightlifting, gymnastics, gimmicky, archery, shooting, sport, sepak takraw, and boxing since its first launch in 2015."
"Nevertheless we have dropped weightlifting and sepak takraw, in parallel with the decision to be excluded from Teras Sports. Instead we have added 3 other types of sports this year, namely lawn bowls, silat and wushu which are listed as core sports, "he said.
A total of 991 male athletes and 798 female athletes aged 5 to 15 are involved in the 1/2018 Series Coating Talent Carnival. A total of 306 state-level coaches were given the responsibility to handle their respective teams.
Series 2/2018 is expected to be held in Ipoh, Perak next November.
