HAKIMI CHOSEN AS FLAG BEARER OF THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES GOLD COAST.

PUTRAJAYA, March 27, 2018 - A significant improvement in the performance of the country's skipper, Muhammad Hakimi Ismail, has become an important criterion for his election as the flagship carrier of the Malaysian contingent at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Youth and Sports Minister YB Brig Jen Khairy Jamaluddin said Hakimi had shown his decisive move to the Gold Coast despite struggling with injuries earlier.

"Back from injury and worth the Gold Coast, that's what we want. Those who show significant improvement need to be recognized, "he said when met by reporters after the Jalur Gemilang handing over to the country's contingent to the Commonwealth Games 2018.

Hakimi, 27, suffered a left ankle injury in 2016 before boasting a brilliant performance last year when renewing the KL2017 SEA Games record with a distance of 16.77 meters.

The discovery of Hakimi was clearly overwhelmed and described it as an incentive to do his best in the Gold Coast.

"This is the best motivation for me and also a high regard especially for sports sports."

At the Malaysia Contingent Rendering Ceremony, the Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin handed the flag to the contingent leader Huang Yon Hao before handing over to Muhammad Hakimi.
